One day at work, in my humble little cubicle, I was listening / half-ass watching Yahoo! Music videos while working. You know, one screen is work and one screen is not. On came "Michael" by the group "No More Kings".
At the time I was not really as much watching the videos (new video shuffle) as I was just really listening with headphones on until that song started.
It got my attention. It had a fun riff to it. It was playful yet when I started to listen to the words it was really cool. The video had some hot animation to boot. Count me in!
I wandered over to their website and I found a bunch more animation and their other songs. I began to like a whole package… Were these guys new? NOPE! Why had I not heard of them before? Why do CDs like this get missed? Who dropped the ball?
Next I was off to find the CD. It was not easy to find. I obviously was not the only person that did not know of these guys.
I finally found it and I have not stopped listening. When the Zune is in my pocket and when no other music inspires me while mowing the lawn, these guys are what make me happy about getting my socks green.
So… When talking to others about this group, I found that no one knew who they were either. That is just wrong! Something needed to be done, we are missing out on too much good music just because record companies just want to sell power-pop-crap. Don’t get me wrong, some of that power-pop-crap I like (some).
So born is Must Know Music!!
I listen to a lot of different types of music each week. I try to check out all the new CDs that come out. I have a very eclectic taste in music. I plan on posting my thoughts on new music that has come out. I also want to dust off not-so-new releases from artists that slipped under the rug for some unknown reason. I hope that it is helpful, fun, and musical for you, if not… so be it.
Send me your thoughts and feedback on how it goes. This should be fun!
