I see big things for this guy. He is the new young Robbie Williams. Fun voice – not the best voice but VERY entertaining. The gays will like him because he is cute and seems like he is straight out of a John Waters musical. The gals will like him because he is cute too. The gals boyfriends… Well maybe… Mark my words. You WILL hear more from him, especially if you live in the UK.
Ok I am just still here at work… Working a spreadsheet on one screen and letting music.yahoo.com pass along new video after crappy new video. Seriously folks there is so much crap out there. I immediately skip anything latin because, well I can’t understand it. I give hip hop and rap very little time to impress me. The rest I usually give over a minute. If I am not hooked but then, well then I move on. The big NEXT button. This one came on and I was just about to skip it the way ist started out all big band and all. I like big band just usually when I am working not so much. I usually like something driving and has a beat or riff. I am on my third spin of this. Very much a song you would expect to see sung in a large lounge with not so much of a whisper being spoken during this beautiful song. One light, a spot light, in a very torch light singer kind of way. The black and white video is very tasteful and pretty. She is in a large claw foot tub hair pulled back and a host of 1940s guys are tux clad dancers… I went to her website and there is basically nothing there. She has a CD coming out later this month so I will have to check back and see if the website gets updated with the release. Her myspace page give a little more info. Hard to compare her to others. She is kind of original.
Seal came out with a new covers CD last year, it is called "Soul". It is good. Seal is one of the most incredible soulful singers we have on our dear planet today. He could probably sing the front page of the USA Today newspaper and make it sound interesting (if that is at all possible). On his CD there are two stand-outs that I love. 1) Knock on Wood – You know, Amii Stewert from the 70′s. I remember many a day waiting for this song to come on the radio with my cassette recorder poised next to the speaker so I could record it. 2) I Can’t Stand the Rain – Ala Tina Turner. The video for this is below. Seal gives the song some lovin’ and looking sharp at the same time.
