so much good music is being lost in the shuffle

I love finding new raw talent. YouTube gives people that voice, if people watch. David Meyrick and Meghan Tonjes are the two that I found. Today YouTube highlighted their great cover of a song by The Weepies. The song is "World Spins Madly On" off their disc "say i am you". I have heard this track at least twelve times now. It is beautiful! David has a voice that is smooth and inviting. He is the one that dug me into the track to listen again. Then I heard the nice vocals by Meghan. This is very raw music. Not studio fluff. You feel as though what you hearing is real. Like they mean it, each word. Listening around on their sites I found that they both have the vocal bug. They love to sing and I loved listening. I also found that there seems to be a YouTube underground music scene that I knew existed but I did not understand how they all supported each other. Seem that some YouTube artists travel to sing and play together. Others, I am guessing from this track, dropped their tracks via cyber-studio sessions. David and Meghan sounded great together. Give the song a listen. I have also included two others that impressed me. David doing a cover of a Kanye West’s "Heartless" and Meghan doing an original track called "The Weight Of". Meghan also has her tracks available on Amazon and ITunes.
Lady Gaga is back with the first single from her upcoming re-release of "The Fame". On Nov 23rd the re-release will have 8 new songs in addition to all the previous songs from the initial release. The new disc is going to be called "The Fame Monster". Kind of fitting since she seems to be the Pop "monster" of 2009. Love the new video. It is wild. LOVE the red undies scene. Very Hot.
I have been a little obsessed with UK’s X Factor. X Factor is another Simon Cowell singing competition show. On this show he is not nasty but supportive – strange. It is in, I think, its sixth season. In the past Sharon Osborne was a judge and in the last couple years Cheryl Cole, from the group Girls Aloud, took over for Sharon as the forth judge. X Factor is different from the states ‘American Idol’ in that the singers are amazingly more seasoned. I wonder if they are hand picked and less of a cattle call show like AI. I found X Factor as a You Tube Channel. I was hooked from the beginning. Cheryl stood out as a VERY beautiful person who seemed to know music and was very supportive of the acts on stage. I had no idea she was a singer at the time. This month her first single from her upcoming CD was released. It is #1 in the UK and is simple Pop/Dance song and is perfect for Top 40 radio and the remixes are sure to show up at a club dance floor near you. My big question in the music industry is why music is not more global. Why do we have certain acts in the states at only hit here. The bigger questions is why acts seem to only hit outside of the states and not here. Are we that fickle or have music execs got it wrong here? Why is it that Kyle Minogue is just now, for the first time in her career, touring the US? Why is it that Pink is bigger in Europe than the US (until this last year)? Very strange. I bring this up because Cheryl’s song is #1 in the UK and I am going to guess that it will not even be heard on US radio. This is perplexing to me. I like it. Give it a listen. Does she remind you of Shania Twain or is it just me?
I see big things for this guy. He is the new young Robbie Williams. Fun voice – not the best voice but VERY entertaining. The gays will like him because he is cute and seems like he is straight out of a John Waters musical. The gals will like him because he is cute too. The gals boyfriends… Well maybe… Mark my words. You WILL hear more from him, especially if you live in the UK.
