The Queen is Back

Queen Latifah is doing it again. Perez Hilton reported today that she is releasing a new single.  It is called "Cue the Rain" and as he states it has "a definate rock vibe".  He is right.  I LOVE IT!!  It is available on ITunes too.

The401Drummer = AMAZING

Posted on 09:19, May 14th, 2009 by James

Kevin Figueiredo from Montreal is in a band called "the401" where he plays the drums.  the401 is rock band with a great sound, however it is what Kevin is doing in that looks like his basement that caught my attention.

Kevin seems to have a pension for remixing popular songs and giving them a more rock feel.  He has posted several (7 so far) of these remixes on his YouTube site.  They are amazing to say the least.  So far, he has taken on songs from Kanye West, Lady GaGa, The Mims, Britney Spears, and Chris Brown.  Now taking on pop songs and remixing them is not new.  I talked about the All American Rejects taking on Britney’s Womanizer a while back, however Kevin’s take is very cool.  He is 17 and has taken his song choices and recorded new guitar, bass and spins the remix while live he records himself playing the drums to it.  What a talent.

Check out a couple that I really like:

Lady GaGa – Just Dance

Kanye West – Love Lockdown

Kelly Clarkson – I Do Not Hook Up

The first time I heard this song I was not that impressed.  I kind of grew on me.  I just think the lyrics are a little…  um… weak.  Now the video came out.  Kelly looks great, the vocals are really good and they have paired her up with the typical beef that she is commonly seen with in her videos.

The video story is exactly opposite of what I expected.  I think that is why I like it.  It was just a little surprise.

Kate Miller-Heidke – Can’t Shake It

Posted on 14:14, May 6th, 2009 by James

This is one of those titles that says what it really isn’t.  I dare you not to shake it when you listen.

I found this Australian dance tune through a drag-like YouTube video by a fellow Aussie Stevie Bishop.  I have posted both the videos here.

Unfortunately her CDs are not on Zune.net so I am not able to go anyfather to listening to her past her MySpace account.  But even when the few songs that are on her site I have to say, Dang!!  Looking forward to hearing more from her.

Here is Stevie’s version. Check out his YouTube account if you want a good laugh. He is a very funny dude.

Esmee Denters – Outta Here

YouTube singing sensation is coming to a radio near you, soon if I was to guess correctly.

Esmee is a pop music dream.  That is probably why Justin TImberlake has taken her under his pop-inspired wings.   He worked with her on her first single called "Outta Here".  It is perfect for many crowds.  I would expect that people who are young and like Miley Cyrus will love this.  People who like top 40 and R&B inspired pop will love this.  People who like American Idol will love this.  If you are in a gay club I would expect to hear the remix of this, thumping loud.  From 12 to 70 years old she has the ability to hit a large crowd not only with this song but if you listen to her other stuff on her YouTube station you will see that she has a nice soothing beautiful voice.  That is probably why she has so many hits on her videos – in the many millions.

I picked a couple different videos for you to check her out.  First is the making of the song "Outta Here" and her take on Justin Timberlake’s song "What Goes Around".  Both show a star that is just bursting out…  This star is going to shine in a big way.
