Billy Currington – People Are Crazy

Pretty simple song.  Not a lot of range on this one but…  I like it.  It is catchy, and I bet it makes it big

Rob Dougan – Furious Angels

Posted on 15:19, April 23rd, 2009 by James

This cd came out in 1998.  It is an incredible mix of orchestarl music, dance, and blues.  He has a gift.   This gift was presented and we never got a sophmore cd.  I hope that someday he will come back and grace us with another.

If you read about him on the web he is doing producing and "may" be coming out with a new cd.  That was quoted several years ago.

Rob is an aussie that spends much time in London (at least that is what I read).  His music has been in several movies, tv, and commercials.  The most famous is on the Matrix soundtrack.

Take a look at this video.  The music is haunting and the video is killer.

Melody Gardot – Baby I’m A Fool

Posted on 15:10, April 14th, 2009 by James

Ok I am just still here at work…

Working a spreadsheet on one screen and letting music.yahoo.com pass along new video after crappy new video.  Seriously folks there is so much crap out there.  I immediately skip anything latin because, well I can’t understand it.  I give hip hop and rap very little time to impress me.  The rest I usually give over a minute.  If I am not hooked but then, well then I move on.  The big NEXT button.

This one came on and I was just about to skip it the way ist started out all big band and all.  I like big band just usually when I am working not so much.  I usually like something driving and has a beat or riff.

I am on my third spin of this.  Very much a song  you would expect to see sung in a large lounge with not so much of a whisper being spoken during this beautiful song.  One light, a spot light, in a very torch light singer kind of way.

The black and white video is very tasteful and pretty.  She is in a large claw foot tub hair pulled back and a host of 1940s guys are tux clad dancers…

I went to her website and there is basically nothing there.  She has a CD coming out later this month so I will have to check back and see if the website gets updated with the release.  Her myspace page give a little more info.  Hard to compare her to others.  She is kind of original.

No More Kings New CD!!

Posted on 11:42, March 28th, 2009 by James

Pete and the gang at No More Kings are back and I personally could not be happier!!

The new cd is supposed to be out on May 12th and a new music video to "Obey the Groove" out on May 1st.

NMK’s is also giving away for free a MP3 of Obey the Groove on their website.  Download it today!  It rocks you all the way back to th 70s with kind of a Kool and The Gang groove but keeps it up to date with a nice dance move to it.  Makes you want to put the headphones on, grab a hairbrush, close the door and sing in front of a full length mirror in your skivvies.

Can’t wait for the new CD.

Papa Roach – Where have I been??

Posted on 16:38, February 17th, 2009 by James

I was on Yahoo Music today listening/watching new videos.  Up came Papa Roach with a new vid called, "Lifeline".  I liked it.  When that happens that is when I start Googling, MySpacing, Zuning, etc..

I pulled all their top hits on Zune.net and I don’t understand why I have not been listening before.  Good stuff.  I like the hard anthem rock vibe.  I really like that there isn’t a lot of puking.  I don’t know if everyone calls it puking but is where they are singing along and then all of a sudden they do part screaming and part singing.  It always sounds like they meant to be singing but a stink bug crawled in the singers mouth and the singer scream/sings to get it out…

No puking here, ok not much.  Just good head nodding rock.  The way rock is suppose to be.  No suger coating it.  Straight out rock.  No other labels needed.

The song I found today seems to be a new single for probably an upcoming CD (I did not do that much research).  I will be looking for it and going back and figuring out what I have been missing since their first CD back in 2000.
