Love this new song. Crossing my fingers for more hot music from Christina!
I have one word for you all: P!NK Gawd she rocks. I am not even through the whole CD and I can’t tell you what a complete pile of… Grammy’s it is. She has a cd full of original not rehashed pop like everyone else does (are you listening Britney?) She is a complete original! I can’t wait to listen to it a million more times. So far it is living up to what I wanted out of her… A CD you listen to really loud in the shower while you are soap’in up before heading out for a fun night. Other music I can’t wait to listen to that came out today. Lady GaGa - I heard a song on an online radio station the other day and wondered who it was. It was actually the Backstreet Boys (I know…) and Lady GaGa. She has an great fun voice. Very dance. I listened to few others on her MySpace page. Can’t wait to listen to it. Labelle – Patti and Company come back together. It is suppose to be a little bit dance (disco?) and gospel. Should be interesting. I was talking to my peeps the other day about Tina Turner (she has a greatest hits CD out with a couple really good new songs, take a listen) and some how Patti’s name came up. So I fired up my subscription online service and gave her old stuff. Besides the obvious, wow I am not a fan. However, I am a huge fan of her stuff from the early 2000′s. Snow Patrol - Loved the last CD. Can’t wait to give this one a listen Toby Keith – I will give this one just one spin. I am sure that I will find one or maybe two tracks that I will play at the bar on the jukbox. In the category of "Why the hell do people still buy this crap"… I give you Kenny Chesney. His new CD came out last week. I gave it one spin. He is the Tom Cruise of country music. In all of Tom’s movies he is the same character. All Kenny’s cds sound like the last cd. He is not country anymore and he has not done anything interesting since "I want my rib back". Ok enough of me today. It is time for me to start the P!nk cd over. Run don’t walk and buy it. p.s. It just pisses me off that I am in Omaha Nebraska on business for almost two weeks and during that time AC/DC came out with a new cd that is only at Walmat. It is not Walmart that pisses me off. It is that there is a Walmart 2 blocks from my hotel and twice a day (to and back from work) I get reminded that I want that CD. The stupid Walmart does not open until a week after I leave and I don’t know the city well enough to know where another is. Oh well I will be home tomorrow, thank gawd! Peace out I saw his name on a blog I read all the time. This person had seen him live and said that he was amazing. I went a listen’in to his first CD called "Indiana", it was full of singer songwriter songs. He has a great talent for the piano. He has a nice mellow voice. The whole cd was "nice". It reminded me of what comes out of the contemporary Christian world – positive and sweet. Jon has also provided two songs for recent soundtracks. The biggy is for the Disney movie Enchanted – the song is called "So Close" and is very, VERY Disney. "So Close" got him an Oscar nod and he performed it on last years ceremonies. He also contributed to a song on Randy Jackson’s (think American Idol) collaboration CD. The song is called "Something to Believe In" which he adds vocals to with Jason Mraz and Van Hunt. Thissong, like "So Close", is a very Disney like song. Now based on what I have said so far you would think I am not huge a fan. Mind you I think that the music so far sampled is a little sugary sweet but it is the first single off his next CD that has me interested. The song is called "Beating My Heart". "Beating My Heart" has similar lyrics to his other material from "Indiana" but the difference is huge in the producing of the track. I read on his website that his has worked with many top producers in the music business on this new CD. This has me very interested. Given that he has created some great lyrics in the past, good producing for this good looking guy has a great chance of capturing more of an audience than the first CD, which did pretty well. I look forward to October 7th when his new CD "OK Now" comes out. I think there is a great potential for this CD. Check out his video for "Beating My Heart" and judge for yourself. Who does he sound like to you? Coldplay meets Savage Garden??
So What is the first single off Pink’s upcoming CD "Funhouse" set to release on October 28th… I can’t wait. This first single is typical Pink – Catchy, Loud, In-Your-Face, Personal, Upbeat, and Singable. I really like it. It is about a new chapter in her life. It is somewhat about her break-up with her ex-husband, Carey Hart. Even more so it is basically a statement that says, "this is who I am, and I don’t really give an F what you think of it". Got to love her attitude. We should all have such confidence. Great first single, can’t wait for the CD… Check out the video which co-stars the Ex – Carey Hart… Nice touch!!
No More Kings came to me in a very round about way. I was half watching music videos on Yahoo Music one day at work and the video Michael came on. I was not watching it but I started by the end of the first sentence. It seemed to just grab me. What happened after that was about a week of lust for everything and anything No More Kings. NMK is headed up by singer songwriter Pete Mitchell and his life long friend Neil Robins. Together they have made a CD that does not fit the mold of the typical pop CD. Unlike most everything put out today, this is a group of songs that do not all sound the same and really pushes to try a lot… and it succeeds. "No More Kings" is a reference that came out of an episode of School House Rock. Check out their clothing line on their website for cool other SHR inspired things. Michael is a song and video that will bring you back to the 1980′s. This song is a homage to Knight Rider (not necessarily The Hoff) and the video has a School House Rock vibe. The animated video has Micheal trying "jump in and save the world’ by doing good deeds and does not do so well at it. Very funny video and great song that will stick in your head for days. The pop references don’t stop there. There are so many pop culture references that one day it seemed my goal to find them all. I started to count and by the time I was done listening to the CD I lost count because I was distracted singing along. Sweep The Leg is all about the move The Karate Kid. The video is crazy good. On the Internet it has been deemed by some as the "Citizen Kane" of music videos. The cast of the original movie show up (sans Pat Morita, RIP). It is directed by William "Billy" Zabka who played Johnny in the movie. For those that need a little refresher on who Johnny is, he is the a-hole jock that made Daniel’s life a living hell and in turn got him to seek out Mr Miyagi who taught him karate. The videos title comes from the infamous line that Johnny’s coach utters telling Johnny to "sweep the leg". Watch the video, it does not disappoint (as long as you have seen the movie). The cast all still looks good. There is an entire website devoted to this video: www.sweeptheleg.com There are many other favorites on this CD. Zombie Me covers a day where the poor guy in the song becomes a zombie because he simply died because he tripped over his shoelaces. As the song states, "what a way to go". Now he roams the streets "looking for brains to eat". Great lyrics and very singable. Leaving Lilliput is a narrative from Gulliver from "Gulliver’s Travels," as introduced by a slick radio DJ. The metaphors alone on this song are ripe! Very tasty, and slick with groovie ryhthum where Guliver trys to tell himself to be strong through the onslot of Liliput’s little people atacks. Umbrella has nothing to to with Rihanna, thank God! First of all Pete pronounces the word unbrella correctly. The song is so beautiful. It talks about how life does not need protection such as an unbrella. Sometimes you just need to get wet! Sometimes you need tears and frowns to make life complete. This song has a feel that reminds me of Five for Fighting. About Schroeder is short and sweet. Sweet in that it is about the love Sally Brown (Charlie Brown’s little sister from the Peanuts) has for Schroeder and how oblivious Schroeder is. Not going to be a song that you put on your workout mix, but it is a song that will make you smile once listen to it again because you did not get the idea of the song the first time. I had to replay it because it went by the first time so quickly at just under two minutes long. There are many more tracks that I love on this CD. All in all it is an incredible CD. Don’t stop, buy it today. Support great music. We need to hear more from these guys in the future!! I only have one request of the guys of NMK… TOUR! I can’t wait to see you guys live.
